Problem

In 2017, Oodji planned to launch an online store in Germany. Before the launch, it was necessary to test various hosting options, ranging from local data centers to cloud providers. The main objective was to find a quick and cost-effective solution that would allow for future infrastructure improvements and rapid expansion into other geographical regions as needed.

Solution

The client was offered an infrastructure deployment using the following AWS services:

  • Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instance to host the web server;
  • Relational Database Service (RDS) instance to host the project’s database;
  • Simple Storage Service (S3) for storing static files;
  • Memcache server based on Amazon ElastiCache.

The capacities for the test period of the website during the first two weeks were selected based on the client’s information about current loads and existing servers of the Russian version of the site. The created infrastructure can be easily replicated in other regions when Oodji decides to further expand.

Why Ohmycloud?

Preparing and deploying AWS infrastructures for high-load online stores (E-commerce) is one of Ohmycloud’s core specializations. Ohmycloud has repeatedly helped online stores successfully deploy cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring uninterrupted website operation under high and rapidly changing loads, which is crucial for any E-commerce company’s success. A properly built infrastructure for E-commerce allows for timely vertical and horizontal scaling, ensuring the online store operates without failure.

⇨ No downtime means no loss of profit ⇦

After the project launch, Ohmycloud always offers further maintenance and support in the AWS cloud. This allows the client to remain confident that the built cloud infrastructure will continue to operate smoothly and comply with the latest security requirements and AWS best practices.

Why AWS?

Using AWS services allowed for the rapid deployment of cloud infrastructure in the required region. If further expansion is needed, the created infrastructure can be cloned and deployed in any other existing AWS region. Launching a project on AWS does not require any additional investments or capital expenditures, nor any prepayment for the AWS services used. The flexible pricing system allows the client to pay only for the services and capacities utilized for the project.

Outcomes

Oodji successfully launched its online store in Germany, leveraging AWS cloud services for a smooth and efficient rollout. The infrastructure proved to be cost-effective and highly adaptable, allowing Oodji to provide a seamless shopping experience to its German customers. With this robust setup, the company is now well-positioned and fully prepared to expand its online presence to other countries, ensuring a quick and scalable entry into new markets.
